Next Generation of Bridge Inspections: Navigating the New Standards

We will focus on the recent changes to the National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS), effective June 2022, along with updates to the Specification for the National Bridge Inventory (SNBI). Inspection reporting and inventory codes have begun transitioning to the new standards and will continue through 2028. These updates are transforming how bridge inspections are conducted, reported, and documented. The revisions introduce new protocols for bridge inspections, reporting requirements, and data collection standards, which are crucial for ensuring the safety and reliability of our infrastructure. The session will guide state and local officials, engineers, and other stakeholders through these changes, highlighting implications for daily operations.
