Geotechnical Risk and Monitoring Aspects of MnDOT’s TH35W Stormwater Storage Facility

The Minnesota Department of Transportation constructed an underground stormwater storage facility to reduce flooding events along trunk highway Interstate 35W. The facility provides existing stormwater infrastructure resiliency benefiting the interstate. It features six temporary stormwater storage cells with a capacity of approximately 14 acre-feet. Hear an overview of project risk management from the design to the construction phases, highlighting how the approach enabled project teams to mitigate risks arising from conditions encountered during construction.
