Disadvantaged business enterprise (DBE) programs have been designed to provide small businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals a fair opportunity to compete for federally funded transportation contracts. Our panel will discuss ways to elevate DBEs in the transportation industry. We will discuss topics such as the challenges DBEs face in the process, how firms can meaningfully partner with a DBE, and why DBE participation is important to transportation agencies.
